Lucerne is one of six limited edition botanical letterpress prints by KT Doyle, part of the Collected Patterns series.
During early settlement in Australia, animals worked the land, provided transport and freight, and it was critical they were fed well. Brisbane Botanist, Walter Hill, mixed different grass seeds together or grass seeds with different plants, to create nutritious feed for livestock. Lucerne was crucial in this mix. The detailed form of this plant made a perfect subject for this pattern.

Tobacco is one of six limited edition botanical letterpress prints by KT Doyle, part of the Collected Patterns series.
Colonial Botanist, Walter Hill, imported many varieties of Tobacco, Sugar Cane and Tea to test in the Queensland soil and climate. Tobacco was included in this series to mark the importance of plants of economic value to the young Australian colony. The beautiful shapes of the leaves inspired a design almost tattoo-like in form.
