Collected Patterns: The botany of Walter Hill – Digital Print

Collected Patterns: The botany of Walter Hill – Digital Print
February 24, 2011 KT

As you know by now, there are a variety of mediums featuring in my upcoming exhibition Collected Patterns: The botany of Walter Hill

Next to the letterpress prints, there is a series of eerily, haunting digital prints which I hope, capture the essence of the plants: Erythroxylon Coca, Casuarina, Caladium, Cabbage Palm, Coffea Arabica and Bromeliad, all cultivated in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens by Walter Hill (1855-1881).

These works were printed at Brisbane Digital Images by Martin Barry. Martin prints works for the Queensland Centre for Photography (QCP) and many renowned photographic artists. His knowledge and workmanship is esteemed, as is his attention to detail and pristine handling of the works he prints. I am ecstatic with the resolution, depth and intensity we have achieved with these Giclée prints on 100% Cotton Rag stock using Epson long life pigment inks.

6 digital prints. Edition of 10.

Exhibition runs: 5-12 March, 2011 at Myrtle Street Studio
