Quench – Brisbane Design Collective

Quench – Brisbane Design Collective
April 19, 2011 KT

Quench (noun): A passionate bunch of Brisbane-based industrial and product designers with the common purpose of joining forces to exhibit their work at Design Tide Tokyo 2010. Including: Alexander Loterzstain, Marc Harrison, Jason Bird, David Shaw, Surya Graf and Björn Rust.

Last night, I attended the Quench collective’s post-doc workshop at Objx in Fortitude Valley. This workshop was their way of bringing solid information from their experience back to the Brisbane design community and encouraging future collaborations within the industry and across industries.

It’s quite amazing to see how collaborations can snowball from one great idea, pick up momentum with funding and sponsorship and take on a life of their own with fortuitous timing and the planning that good foresight brings.

Quench launched at Unlimited: Designing for the Asia Pacific last year in Brisbane, before heading to Tokyo to represent Queensland design through their own individual brands, but in an international forum – 100% Design Tokyo.

Mission successfully accomplished, with a lot of hard work and bucket loads of commitment.

Congratulations guys on a completely inspirational project and many thanks for sharing your journey with us!
