Moore & Moore Wallpaper – Coral

Moore & Moore Wallpaper – Coral
November 24, 2010 KT

Continuing on from yesterday’s post featuring Flannel Flower Damask, the first design in the initial range of contemporary wallpapers I’ve designed for new Australian company Moore & MooreI’d like to introduce the second design…

The inspiration for both the form and detail of the Coral design was found from a range of sources, in particular the botanical studies pictured below and stylised Art Deco designs. We wanted to create a design that is again, contemporary in feel, has an Australian reference without being overtly Australian and one that uses detail to striking effect. I’ve been a little sneaky here and haven’t included a detail of the design, but the coral branches are composed of tiny dots, some close together, some further apart, to create movement and depth within each element. The type of repeat used is a sateen repeat which allows the design to appear scattered, floating and multi-directional (a great feature in wallpaper if to be applied to the ceiling or used in other applications that have multiple view points).

Below is the White on Dusty Blue colourway… Stay tuned to see the other three colours…
