Last week I received my copy of the soon-to-be-launched design publication, Hightide—Queensland Design Now by Queensland designer, Jason Bird.
Hightide is an exciting design publication featuring a breadth of Queensland designers and their works from the past decade: 2002—2012. Twenty-two prominent designers are featured in this visually stunning presentation of the best in contemporary industrial, furniture and object design. Also included are in depth essays by local and national designers and writers who share their thoughts, musings, and opinions on the unique landscape of the Australian design scene.
I am grateful to be included amongst such passionate and hard-working designers, some I know and many I admire.
Included in the book is my 2009 project—Making Place—in which I developed my Falling Leaves collection of wallpaper and textiles. That work was like a watershed, a gateway to a more expansive practice and it opened up a whole series of local, national and international commission opportunities.
