Artisan’s Meet the Makers

Artisan’s Meet the Makers
October 18, 2010 KT

Last week I was invited by Artisan to participate in their Meet the Maker’s Program. The program facilitates a monthly presentation by an artist, craftworker or designer to an architecture practice to encourage cross-fertilization of ideas, creative disciplines and industries.

I presented to an enthusiastic team of professional architects and interior designers at Conrad Gargett Architecture in South Brisbane. Conrad Gargett is an Australian firm working across the full gamut of commercial, government and residential applications with HQ in Brisbane and a second office in Townsville.

I decided to focus on the last 10 years of my practice, by running through a series of projects and exhibitions, taking a side-ways step to talk about Making Place with a hands on show and tell of the sustainable wallpaper and textiles created during the project in 2009, and my bespoke commercial wallpaper commission for Laruche Bar + Supper Club, also in 2009. Architects and interior designers are so much fun – asking questions, getting into the show and tell and being very supportive.

This was such a great experience and I met some fantastic people. Many thanks to Conrad Gargett for being proactive and wanting to be involved in a program like this. And a big thank you to Artisan for inviting me to participate… Please sign me up for the next round!
