Recollected Patterns – Packed for Transit

Recollected Patterns – Packed for Transit
October 1, 2012 KT

Now it’s getting exciting… Later this week I will install my solo exhibition, Recollected Patterns: The botany of Walter Hill, at the Redland Art Gallery, Capalaba and I have been packing up the works and preparing my toolbox.

This is serious list crossing off territory… Do I have all the works from the original Collected Patterns show? Check. Do I have all the new works, which take Collected Patterns to Recollected Patterns? Check. Do I have my toolbox in order: 2 x sets of white gloves (for handling artwork), extra hanging materials (hooks, wires, magnets), a hammer (though I shouldn’t need it), a tape measure, a screw driver, a pair of scissors, various kinds of tape and the essential artwork spacing device? Check.

This last one is something I learned from my friend and long time art collector, ephemeral-male. For the Collected Patterns show I used my business card to provide standard dimensions for spacing the wall mounted artworks and it was much simpler and easier to use than bringing out the tape measure every time. Even though I have been hanging shows for over 20 years, this was new to me and a great tip. Thanks for that Mal!

Show opens next Monday, 8 October 2012 at Redland Art Gallery, Capalaba Place, Noeleen Street, Capalaba, Queensland, Australia.

Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday 8.30am-5pm, Wednesday 9am-5pm, Thursday 8.30am-7.30pm and Saturday 9am-4pm. Admission Free!
