JEANBAG
OVERVIEW
JEANBAG was born out of a local competition aimed at raising community awareness about recycling. 18 artists were selected to develop artworks from recycled furniture, homewares and textiles to show how a little creativity can transform everyday objects into something worth keeping.
There’s something about denim that’s so familiar and nostalgic. Almost everyone has a pair of jeans… Inspired by a pile of pre-loved and well-worn denim jeans found at a second-hand shop, it seemed natural to transform them into a cool and comfortable beanbag. A perfect fit.
Over four years, JEANBAG diverted more than 2000 pairs of denim jeans from landfill, transforming these old blues—that had been loved and discarded—into beautiful and useful products for home and life.
As both a platform and advocate for the refuse, reduce and recycle movement, JEANBAG developed a strong voice connecting community to purpose through positive action and leading by example.
