In 2001, the Penrith Museum of Printing was established in Sydney by founder Alan Connell who wanted to create a ‘working museum of printing machinery and equipment’.
Many of the 23 pieces of working machinery on display (some of which are over 100 years of old), started their life at the Nepan Times Newspaper in Penrith and regular tours focus learning about the printed word and the art of letterpress printing. There’s a Model 8 Linotype Press, Vandercook Proof Press, Flatbed Wharfdale Printing Press and a Chandler & Price Platen amongst others…
