MADE – Taking the Virtual to the Actual

MADE – Taking the Virtual to the Actual
October 26, 2011 KT

Another interesting part of the process involved in making the new giclée prints, to be shown in SGAR‘s group exhibition – MADE, is relating the virtual to the actual…

Here, I talked about the line weight tests I created to check the final print result of the motifs contained in the artworks. I then had to translate the successful line weights from the tests into the actual artworks and double check the final outcome by cropping sections of the full sized designs to print as a further method of testing their impact. Below you can see where I have superimposed the high-end line weight print tests over my low-fi artwork mockups.

I’m always glad I go the extra mile in testing… And good thing this time too, as I still need to refine the line weights a little further. I’m not too far off… One more cropped print test should do it and then we can press the final print button!

Not long now… The show opens on November 4, 2011…
