Kickstarter is a platform for funding creative projects. The project creator provides the project to fund, and Kickstarter provides connectivity between the public and the project creator so we can put our support where our mouths are and help fund a great idea! It’s powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands.
A terrifically cool virtual Letterpress application for the iPad called LetterMpress, created by graphic designer and business owner, John Bonadies, blew the minds of so many people he almost tripled his funding goal!
John sums the project up: “LetterMpress™ will be a virtual letterpress environment – released first on the iPad – that will allow anyone to create authentic-looking letterpress designs and prints. The design process is the same as the letterpress process: you place and arrange type and cuts on a press bed, lock the type, ink the type, and print. You will be able to create unlimited designs, with multiple colors, using authentic vintage wood type and art cuts. And you can print your design directly from LetterMpress or save it as an image for import it into other applications.”
Congratulations to John for believing in his idea, asking for help to produce it and to Kickstarter for being the catalyst.
Sounds like a win, win, win to me…
Thanks to Parenthetically for posting about this cool project and to Malcolm Enright over at Ephemeral-male for alerting me to it… Nice!
