Footlocker Art Prize 2011 – Entry

Footlocker Art Prize 2011 – Entry
June 27, 2011 KT

Launched earlier this year, with entries closing a week ago, is Australia’s richest colouring competition. At $50,001 the Foot Locker Art Prize just trumps the Archibald Prize! Of course, I had to enter, along with thousands of other artists, designers, students, kids, people from all walks of life…

Taking inspiration from my recent exhibition, Collected Patterns: The botany of Walter Hill, I drew on the popular White Clover pattern for the design. I wanted to wrap the motif around the shoe as if it was literally growing around it, entangling it and wrapping it up. I couldn’t help but create two entries from the same design, but in different colourways.

Feel free to check them out on the Footlocker Art Prize website, along with all the other great entries! White Clover (White Shoe) and White Clover (Black Shoe)Oh, and click the like button if, well, you like them, as all entries are open for the People’s Choice Award of $1500. Sweet!

Stay tuned for winner announcements…
