Fashion for Flood Relief

Fashion for Flood Relief
March 28, 2011 KT

Last week I attended the Fashion for Flood Relief event at The Villager in Brisbane’s CBD. Organised by Alison Triffett from Style Counsel (who I interviewed on Design Spot), it went off like a fire cracker!

The event was created to continue bringing donations to the people who need it most in flood-affected Queensland. Even though some time has passed since the January-flood, so many people are only just starting to rebuild their lives and while this is no longer top of the list on the nightly news, there is still a long way to go.

So, wanting to help, Alison drew on her contacts, spread the word and gradually formed a very successful event… Clothes were donated for sale in the little bargain-basement shop at The Villager and 100% of all proceeds raised through ticket sales to the event and bargains snaffled on the night went to the relief effort. It was a smashing evening with shopping, champagne and interviews with several female radio and television personalities, including Heather Foord, Melissa Downs and Emily-Jade O’Keefe.

Read more about the night on Alison’s blog. Thanks Al for your hard work. You’re an inspiration!
